ConAgra Foods is planning to end RyKrisps crackers production at its plant in Southeast Minneapolis, citing low demand.

The closure of the plant, which is the only plant making RyKrisps, will result in over 15 job losses, The Pioneer Press reports.

ConAgra spokesman said that the company will not produce the crackers anymore.

Based in Nebraska, ConAgra acquired RyKrisps brand in 2012 when it bought Ralcorp Holdings.

The Seattle Times reported that RyKrisp had been owned by Ralcorp's corporate predecessor since the 1920s.

ConAgra Foods RyKrisp workers union vice president John Peglow was quoted by the Seattle Times as saying: "There was a large (Scandinavian) ethnic community and this was a staple.

Peglow said that that the closure wasn't a complete surprise for the plant's workers, many of whom have been making crackers for over 30 years.

"They were only doing one shift, and the plant was running maybe two weeks out of the month.

"They weren't running at capacity," added Peglow.
